Overview

Vinorelbine tartrate + granulocyte-colony stimulating factor is a combination regimen used primarily in oncology, where vinorelbine tartrate, a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid antineoplastic agent, is administered alongside granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), a recombinant protein that stimulates the production of neutrophils. Vinorelbine inhibits microtubule assembly by binding to tubulin, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. G-CSF (commonly filgrastim) acts as a supportive therapy to reduce the risk and severity of neutropenia caused by myelosuppressive chemotherapy like vinorelbine. This combination allows for higher dose intensity or frequency of vinorelbine administration by mitigating its dose-limiting hematologic toxicity (neutropenia). The regimen has been studied in metastatic breast cancer and non-small cell lung cancer settings, particularly for patients who are heavily pretreated or refractory to other agents[1][2][7].
