VINS Polyvalent Antivenom (VPAV) is a purified, equine-derived polyvalent antivenom produced by VINS Bio Products Ltd. in India. It is specifically designed to treat snakebite envenoming caused by the "Big Four" venomous snakes of the Indian subcontinent: the Indian cobra (*Naja naja*), the Common krait (*Bungarus caeruleus*), the Russell's viper (*Daboia russelii*), and the Saw-scaled viper (*Echis carinatus*). The antivenom works by binding to and neutralizing various venom components, including phospholipases A2 (PLA2), three-finger toxins (3FTx), snake venom metalloproteinases (SVMP), and serine proteases. While effective against the Big Four in India, its efficacy varies geographically against related species and subspecies in neighboring regions like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka due to venom variation. It is administered intravenously and is associated with a risk of acute antivenom-related anaphylaxis (ARA).
