Overview

VINS Snake Antivenom refers to a range of equine-derived biological products manufactured by VINS Bio Products Ltd for the treatment of snakebite envenomation. The primary product is a polyvalent antivenom targeting the 'Big Four' venomous snakes of India: the Indian cobra (*Naja naja*), common krait (*Bungarus caeruleus*), Russell's viper (*Daboia russelii*), and saw-scaled viper (*Echis carinatus*). The company also produces monovalent antivenoms and specialized formulations for African snake species. These products consist of purified polyclonal immunoglobulin fragments (F(ab')2) harvested from the plasma of horses hyperimmunized with specific snake venoms. The mechanism of action is passive immunization, where the antibodies bind to and neutralize venom toxins (such as neurotoxins, hemotoxins, and cytotoxins) in the victim's bloodstream. Administered parenterally (intravenously or intramuscularly), it is a critical intervention for preventing systemic toxicity and death following a venomous bite.
