Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Violet Balm (also known as Dr. Westwater Violet Balm) is a CBD-dominant topical cream developed by Vireo Health (a subsidiary of Goodness Growth Holdings) containing 2210 mg of cannabidiol (CBD) per jar and less than 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is formulated with a lipid mixture and enhanced with terpenes to improve skin penetration and fragrance. Violet Balm is being evaluated in clinical trials, such as the CanAroma study led by the University of Minnesota, for the treatment of aromatase inhibitor-associated musculoskeletal syndrome (AIMSS) in breast cancer patients. Cannabidiol acts as a multi-target modulator, including negative allosteric modulation of cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), agonism of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) and 5-HT1A receptors, and antagonism of GPR55.
