Overview

Viprostol (CL-115,347) is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) developed for use as a vasodilator and antihypertensive agent. It is active by both oral and transdermal routes and has been studied for its effects on peripheral blood flow, notably in Raynaud's phenomenon and hypertension. Its mechanism of action primarily involves vasodilation and a weak antagonism of alpha-adrenoceptors, which may contribute to its antihypertensive effects.
