Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Viprovex is a synthetic peptide immunomodulator developed by ImmuneRegen BioSciences, a subsidiary of IR BioSciences Holdings. It is a specific formulation of Homspera, which is a derivative of the naturally occurring neuropeptide Substance P (specifically the analog Sar9, Met-Substance P). Viprovex is designed to enhance the immune system and improve pulmonary function, acting as a homeostatic compound. It has been investigated as a medical countermeasure for bioterrorism threats and for the treatment of various viral and bacterial infections, including influenza and acute melioidosis. Pre-clinical research has demonstrated that Viprovex, when used in combination with oseltamivir (Tamiflu), can provide enhanced protection against lung inflammation caused by influenza infection compared to oseltamivir alone.
