Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VIR-007 is a preclinical broadly neutralizing monoclonal antibody (bNAb) being developed by Vir Biotechnology in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the treatment and potential functional cure of HIV. The antibody is engineered using Vir's proprietary platform technology, incorporating Fc-region modifications designed to enhance the immune system's T-cell response to the virus. By recognizing and preventing a wide range of HIV variants from infecting cells, VIR-007 aims to inhibit viral replication and spread. The program's clinical goal is to achieve a vaccine-like effect that enables durable, antiretroviral therapy (ART)-free suppression of the virus.
