VIR-1388

VIR-1388 is an investigational HIV T cell vaccine developed by Vir Biotechnology. It is based on the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) vector platform and is designed to stimulate the body to produce immune cells known as T cells that recognize several HIV proteins in a way that differs from prior investigational HIV vaccines. The vaccine aims to elicit abundant T cell responses against HIV, leveraging applied learnings from Vir’s earlier candidate, VIR-1111. VIR-1388 is administered subcutaneously and is currently being evaluated in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 1 clinical trial for safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity in healthy adults who are HCMV-positive and not living with HIV.
