VIR-2981 is an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Vir Biotechnology for the prevention of influenza. It specifically targets neuraminidase, a key viral protein that facilitates the release of new influenza viruses from infected cells. The antibody binds to a highly conserved region of neuraminidase present across both influenza A and B strains, providing broad-spectrum activity against all major seasonal and pandemic variants.
