Overview

Viral specific cytotoxic t-lymphocytes (CMV-CTLs) is an investigational adoptive cellular immunotherapy being developed by New York Medical College for the treatment of refractory cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. The therapy consists of donor-derived T-cells that are extracted from HLA-matched or mismatched related donors who have previously been exposed to CMV. These cells are processed using the Miltenyi CliniMACS Prodigy Cytokine Capture System to select and expand T-cells that specifically recognize CMV antigens, particularly the pp65 protein. Once administered to the patient, these CTLs are intended to reconstitute the recipient's cellular immunity against CMV, thereby controlling viral replication in patients who have failed standard antiviral treatments, such as those post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AlloHSCT) or solid organ transplant, or those with primary immunodeficiencies.
