Virastatin

Virastatin (later renamed Larreastatin) is a natural product extract derived from the *Larrea tridentata* (creosote bush) plant using patented extraction and purification technologies. Developed by Global Botanics and trademarked by Larreacorp, it is a multifunctional ingredient characterized by antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. The compound was primarily developed as a pharmaceutical ingredient for the suppression of herpes viruses, including genital herpes and shingles (herpes zoster). Clinical studies conducted in the mid-1990s reported high success rates in healing lesions in immunocompetent patients. While developed for pharmaceutical applications, it has been widely distributed as a dietary supplement under the brand name LarreaRx, often formulated in capsules and sometimes combined with Vitamin C.
