Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Viravaxx's SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is a protein-based subunit vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of COVID-19. Developed by the Vienna-based biotechnology company Viravaxx AG, the vaccine is engineered to stimulate a protective immune response involving both neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The candidate was in the preclinical stage of development, with an international patent application filed in March 2022. The vaccine's design focuses on eliciting responses that could potentially block viral entry, similar to the company's diagnostic tools that target the interaction between the receptor-binding domain (RBD) and the host ACE2 receptor. However, the company's operations appear to have concluded by 2026 following the expiration of its web domain.
