Virless

Virless is a branded formulation of the antiviral drug acyclovir, a synthetic guanine nucleoside analogue used primarily for the treatment and prophylaxis of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections and varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infections such as chickenpox and herpes zoster. As an oral or topical antiviral, acyclovir is selectively phosphorylated by viral thymidine kinase in infected cells and subsequently converted to its active triphosphate form, which competitively inhibits viral DNA polymerase and causes chain termination when incorporated into viral DNA, thereby blocking viral DNA synthesis and replication. Clinically, Virless (acyclovir) is indicated for mucocutaneous and genital HSV infections, suppression and prophylaxis of recurrent HSV particularly in immunocompromised patients, and treatment of varicella and herpes zoster, with dosing adjusted for age, renal function, and immune status.[1][5][7][11][15][17]
