Overview

VIS019 is a monoclonal antibody developed by Visterra, a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical, currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of immune-mediated diseases. Engineered using Visterra's proprietary Hierotope platform, VIS019 is designed to target CD38 (Cluster of Differentiation 38), a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of many immune cells, most notably plasma cells. By binding to CD38, the antibody is intended to deplete these pathogenic cell populations, thereby reducing the production of autoantibodies and inflammatory mediators associated with various autoimmune disorders. The drug is being evaluated for its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and patients with immune-mediated conditions.
