Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Viscof-S is a combination cough and expectorant syrup developed by Indus Life Sciences. It is formulated to provide relief from productive (wet) coughs and chest congestion associated with respiratory conditions such as asthmatic bronchitis, bronchospasm, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and smoker's cough. The syrup contains four active ingredients: salbutamol (a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that acts as a bronchodilator to relax airway smooth muscles), ambroxol (a mucolytic agent that breaks down thick mucus and blocks voltage-gated sodium channels), guaifenesin (an expectorant that increases the volume and reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions), and menthol (which provides a cooling sensation to soothe throat irritation).
