Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Visepegenatide (PB-119) is a long-acting, once-weekly, subcutaneous glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA). It is a PEGylated form of exenatide designed to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus by enhancing beta-cell function and reducing insulin resistance. Unlike some other GLP-1 RAs, visepegenatide does not require dose titration. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in lowering HbA1c and improving multiple markers of glucose metabolism. The drug has been developed primarily for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and is also being investigated for obesity[2][3][5][6][8].
