Visonac

Visonac is a novel photodynamic therapy (PDT) developed for the treatment of moderate to severe inflammatory acne. The therapy involves topical application of the Visonac cream to affected skin areas, followed by controlled illumination with a red light source. This process activates the photosensitizer in the cream, leading to production of reactive oxygen species that kill bacteria and have beneficial effects on sebaceous glands and inflammatory cells. Clinical studies have shown that Visonac PDT results in significant reduction in inflammatory lesions and overall improvement in acne severity, with good tolerability and no serious adverse events reported. The developer Photocure has obtained patents protecting its use for acne until 2025[2][5].
