VISUcombidex

VISUcombidex is an ophthalmic combination solution containing the aminoglycoside antibiotic tobramycin (0.3%) and the corticosteroid dexamethasone sodium phosphate (0.1%). Developed by Visufarma and subsequently acquired by Lupin in 2026, the product is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a bacterial infection or a risk of infection exists. Tobramycin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage by binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting protein synthesis, while dexamethasone suppresses the inflammatory response by binding to glucocorticoid receptors. The medication is approved for use in adults and children from two years of age and is available in both multi-dose bottles and single-dose containers.
