Overview

Vitalipid Infant (also known as Vitalipid N Infant) is a sterile oil-in-water emulsion for intravenous use, developed by Baxter and distributed by Fresenius Kabi. It is indicated as a supplement in complete parenteral nutrition to meet the daily requirements of fat-soluble vitamins A, D2, E, and K1 in neonates, infants, and children up to 11 years of age. The product contains retinol, ergocalciferol, alpha-tocopherol, and phytomenadione in a lipid vehicle of soya oil and egg lecithin. It is typically administered by addition to a lipid emulsion such as Intralipid. Vitalipid Infant serves as a standard of care in pediatric parenteral nutrition and has been used as a comparator in clinical trials for new parenteral vitamin formulations.
