Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vitamin B12 + dexamethasone is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used together, most commonly in injectable or local formulations for the management of pain and inflammation. Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in nerve health and red blood cell formation, while dexamethasone is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. The combination has been studied for use in conditions such as postoperative pain after spinal surgery and osteoarthritis, where it may reduce inflammatory markers, improve early functional outcomes, and accelerate recovery by leveraging both neurotrophic (vitamin B12) and anti-inflammatory (dexamethasone) effects[1][5][6]. The mechanism involves modulation of inflammatory cytokines by dexamethasone and support of nerve regeneration by vitamin B12.
