Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of vitamin D, calcium, and somatropin (recombinant human growth hormone). - **Vitamin D** is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for calcium absorption, bone health, and immune function. It promotes the absorption of calcium in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal mineralization of bone[6][8]. - **Calcium** is a mineral critical for building and maintaining strong bones and teeth. It also plays roles in muscle contraction, nerve transmission, intracellular signaling, and vascular function[6]. - **Somatropin** (recombinant human growth hormone) stimulates linear growth in children with growth hormone deficiency (GHD), increases protein synthesis, promotes lipolysis, enhances bone metabolism by stimulating osteoblast activity via IGF-1 production, and regulates various metabolic processes[3][1]. The combination of these agents is used primarily to treat pediatric patients with GHD or other conditions associated with impaired skeletal development or low bone mass. Clinical studies show that combining somatropin with vitamin D can promote greater improvements in height velocity, bone age advancement, IGF-1 levels (a key mediator of GH action), as well as markers of bone formation compared to monotherapy. Vitamin D supplementation supports optimal response to somatropin by improving calcium homeostasis; together with supplemental dietary or pharmaceutical calcium it further supports healthy skeletal development[1][4][2].
