Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vitamin D3 + vitamin E is a combination of two fat-soluble vitamins commonly used as a dietary supplement. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is essential for calcium and phosphate homeostasis, supporting bone health, muscle function, nerve signaling, and immune system regulation. It acts primarily by increasing intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. Vitamin E (tocopherol) functions mainly as an antioxidant, protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage by neutralizing free radicals. The combination may be used to prevent or treat deficiencies in these vitamins due to poor diet, certain illnesses, or increased physiological needs such as pregnancy[4][5][8]. Preclinical studies suggest that the combination can reduce oxidative stress and neuronal loss more effectively than either alone in models of neurodegenerative disease[2].
