Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vitared is an oral fixed-dose combination nutritional supplement manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals, modeled after the AREDS2 (Age-Related Eye Disease Study 2) formulation. It contains a combination of antioxidant vitamins (Vitamin C and Vitamin E), the macular carotenoid lutein, and essential trace minerals (zinc and copper). Vitared is indicated for the nutritional support of eye health, specifically to reduce the risk and slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts. The antioxidant components (Vitamins C and E) help neutralize harmful free radicals in the ocular tissues, while lutein selectively accumulates in the macula to filter damaging blue light and protect against oxidative damage. Zinc is an essential cofactor for numerous ocular enzymes, and copper is co-formulated to prevent zinc-induced copper deficiency during long-term supplementation.
