Vitex doniana ethyl acetate leaf extract is a plant-derived research compound obtained from the leaves of *Vitex doniana* Sweet (Verbenaceae), a medicinal plant traditionally used in Africa. This extract is a complex natural product mixture containing approximately 27 secondary metabolites, including sesquiterpenoids, sesquiterpenes, diterpenoids, and flavonoids. Preclinical research has demonstrated its potential as an antineoplastic agent, showing significant concentration-dependent cytotoxic effects against cervical cancer (HeLa) and prostate cancer (DU-145) cell lines. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of key cancer-associated genes, specifically the downregulation of the androgen receptor (AR) and the anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) gene, alongside the modulation of caspase-3, cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1), and tumor protein p53 (TP53). Beyond oncology, the extract has shown anti-inflammatory properties in animal models and antibacterial activity against antibiotic-resistant *Salmonella* strains. It is currently in the early research and preclinical development stage.
