VitiGam

VitiGam is a first-in-class immunoglobulin G (IgG)-based anticancer immunotherapy developed by GammaCan International for the treatment of stage IIB to stage IV metastatic melanoma. The drug is a biologic therapy manufactured from the plasma of donors with vitiligo, a benign skin condition characterized by the immune-mediated loss of melanocytes. VitiGam contains naturally occurring anti-melanoma antibodies (IgG) that have demonstrated the ability to bind to melanoma cells, inhibiting their proliferation and preventing metastasis in preclinical models. The drug received FDA orphan drug designation in July 2007; however, its development was subsequently halted following the financial dissolution of its developer.
