Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vitisin B is a naturally occurring resveratrol tetramer primarily extracted from *Vitis vinifera* (grapevine). It belongs to the stilbenoid family and is recognized for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective activities. In the context of neurodegenerative research, vitisin B has shown potential in treating Alzheimer's disease by restoring cholinergic function, increasing hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression, and improving synaptic plasticity. Preclinical studies indicate it can cross the blood-brain barrier or exert effects via systemic administration to improve spatial and recognition memory, as well as protect against scopolamine-induced cytotoxicity.
