Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Viveta is a topical anesthetic cream containing a combination of lidocaine (7% w/w) and tetracaine (7% w/w). Manufactured by Ajanta Pharma, it is used to provide local anesthesia for minor dermatological and surgical procedures, including laser treatments, tattoo removal, dermal filler injections, and skin biopsies. The mechanism of action involves the reversible blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve fibers, which inhibits the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of pain impulses. Following topical application, the cream typically induces numbness within the treated area that lasts for approximately one to two hours.
