Overview

Vixarelimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the oncostatin M receptor beta subunit (OSMRβ). By binding to OSMRβ, vixarelimab inhibits signaling of both interleukin 31 (IL-31) and oncostatin M (OSM), two cytokines implicated in pruritus, inflammation, and fibrosis. This dual mechanism may provide therapeutic benefit in diseases characterized by chronic itch and fibrotic processes. Vixarelimab is being developed for several inflammatory and fibrotic conditions including prurigo nodularis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), ulcerative colitis, and other skin disorders. The drug was originally developed by Biogen and is currently being advanced by Genentech/Roche and Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals[1][3][4][5][6].
