Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VK3019 is a novel amylin receptor agonist being developed by Viking Therapeutics for the treatment of obesity and related metabolic disorders. Amylin is a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin that plays a key role in glucose homeostasis and appetite regulation by slowing gastric emptying and promoting satiety. By targeting the amylin receptor, VK3019 aims to provide a complementary mechanism to GLP-1 based therapies for weight loss. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, where it is being evaluated for safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy adults.
