VLA2101 is an investigational **variant strain-based COVID-19 vaccine** developed by **Valneva** as a follow-on to VLA2001. It is described as an **inactivated whole-virus vaccine** that uses the same general manufacturing technology platform as Valneva's Japanese encephalitis vaccine IXIARO.
