Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VLR247 is an ActRIIA-based Fc ligand trap (biologic) designed to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and related cardiopulmonary diseases, including secondary pulmonary hypertension associated with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and interstitial lung disease (ILD). Discovered by Paragon Labs and developed by Velaris Therapeutics (acquired by Alaunos Therapeutics in October 2026), VLR247 targets the activin receptor type IIA (ActRIIA) signaling pathway. It is specifically engineered with a distinct ActRII extracellular domain to spare the ligands bone morphogenetic protein 9 (BMP-9) and bone morphogenetic protein 10 (BMP-10), thereby minimizing the risk of hematologic adverse events. VLR247 is currently in the preclinical research stage, with initial regulatory filings anticipated in the near term.
