VM-001 is an allogeneic myeloid-derived suppressor cell (MDSC) therapy developed by ViGenCell for the treatment of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). MDSCs are a heterogeneous population of immature myeloid cells that possess potent immunosuppressive properties, primarily by inhibiting T-cell proliferation and activation through mechanisms such as the production of arginase-1, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and reactive oxygen species (ROS). VM-001 is derived from umbilical cord blood using ViGenCell's proprietary ViMedier platform, which enables the large-scale production of these cells. The therapy is designed to modulate the hyper-inflammatory immune response in GvHD patients, particularly those who are refractory to standard steroid treatments.
