Overview
VM-902A is a small molecule drug that acts as an antagonist of the tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA), also known as the nerve growth factor receptor Trk-A. It was initially developed by VM Discovery and later acquired by Purdue Pharma. The drug's primary mechanism of action is inhibition of TrkA, which plays a key role in pain signaling pathways. VM-902A was investigated for the treatment of moderate to severe chronic pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee, aiming to provide a non-opioid, non-NSAID alternative for pain management. Clinical development reached Phase 2 trials but these were terminated[1][4][5].
