Overview

VM507 is a monoclonal antibody being developed by the South Korean biopharmaceutical company Helixmith for the treatment of immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy, also known as Berger's disease. The therapeutic acts as an agonist of the c-MET receptor (hepatocyte growth factor receptor), mimicking the regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). By activating this pathway, VM507 is designed to restore the function of renal intervascular cells and alleviate inflammation within the kidney. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its potential to stabilize renal function without inducing immune rejection. While its primary focus is on chronic kidney disease, Helixmith has indicated that VM507's mechanism of action may be applicable to a broader range of inflammatory and degenerative conditions.
