VMB-100 is an investigational, intramuscularly delivered, sequence-engineered messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) therapy encoding human insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). It is being developed for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), a condition characterized by involuntary urine leakage due to a weakened urinary sphincter muscle. The drug aims to promote local expression of IGF-1 in muscle tissue, thereby accelerating regeneration and restoring function of the urinary sphincter. Preclinical studies have shown that VMB-100 induces IGF-1 expression in human muscle cells and restores sphincter function after a single dose in animal models. Versameb AG is developing this therapy using its proprietary VERSagile platform to enhance mRNA potency. As of early 2024, it has entered Phase 2 clinical trials for SUI[1][2][4][6].
