Overview

VMn-Gd is an experimental **virus-like hollow bimetallic manganese-gadolinium nanoparticle** developed as a tumor-microenvironment-responsive nanomedicine platform. Under acidic tumor conditions, the Mn-Gd structure degrades and releases manganese and gadolinium species; manganese-mediated glutathione depletion and Fenton-like reactive-oxygen-species generation can enhance oxidative damage, while gadolinium contributes X-ray attenuation and radiosensitization. VMn-Gd also has T1-weighted magnetic-resonance contrast potential. It is the nanoparticle core used to construct the more complex VMn-Gd@GOx-EVs system, which additionally incorporates glucose oxidase and extracellular-vesicle coating for breast-cancer targeting and combined oxidative therapy with radiotherapy.
