Overview

VMX-C001 is an engineered recombinant human coagulation factor X (FX) that is designed to be insensitive to inhibition by Factor Xa direct oral anticoagulants (FXa-DOACs), such as apixaban, rivaroxaban, and edoxaban. Its mechanism of action involves bypassing the inhibitory effects of FXa-DOACs, thereby rapidly restoring normal blood coagulation in patients experiencing serious bleeding or requiring urgent surgery while on these anticoagulants. VMX-C001 has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical models and early clinical studies, showing the ability to restore hemostasis without increasing thrombotic risk. The drug is under development primarily for the reversal of FXa-DOACs in emergency situations involving severe bleeding or surgical intervention[1][2][3][5][6].
