Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VNA-052 is a first-in-class, small-molecule mitophagy inducer being developed by Vandria as a tissue-targeted mitochondrial therapeutic for muscle diseases, particularly sporadic inclusion body myositis and other muscle pathologies with high unmet medical need.[6][7][9] Vandria’s mitophagy compounds, including VNA-052, restore mitophagic flux via activation of the PINK1/Parkin mitochondrial quality-control pathway while binding a novel, undisclosed target and are designed to normalize mitochondrial function and dampen inflammation without disrupting mitochondrial membrane potential or the respiratory chain under basal conditions.[6][9] VNA-052 is currently in preclinical, IND‑enabling development, supported by a Eurostars grant to generate preclinical data in Vandria’s muscle program through the M‑PLUS consortium with academic and industry partners.[5][6][7][8][9]
