vocacapsaicin

Vocacapsaicin is a water-soluble prodrug of capsaicin developed for postsurgical pain management. Upon local administration at the surgical site, it rapidly releases capsaicin, which acts as an agonist at the TRPV1 receptor on pain-specific nerves. This activation leads to selective desensitization of pain-conducting nerve fibers without causing sensory numbness or motor weakness. The analgesic effect can last for weeks and has been shown to reduce or eliminate opioid use in postoperative patients. Vocacapsaicin is being developed by Concentric Analgesics and has received both Fast Track and Breakthrough Therapy Designations from the FDA for postoperative pain[1][3][4][5][6].
