Overview

Vocarzine is a generic formulation of cariprazine, a third-generation atypical antipsychotic developed by Atco Pharma for Pharmaceutical Industries. It is designed as a bioequivalent alternative to the reference product Reagila (known as Vraylar in some markets). Cariprazine's pharmacological profile is characterized by partial agonism at dopamine D3 and D2 receptors, with a notably higher affinity for the D3 subtype, as well as partial agonism at serotonin 5-HT1A receptors. It also acts as an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2B and 5-HT2A receptors. Vocarzine is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia and manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder. Clinical bioequivalence studies, including those led by researcher Aya M. Abdel Magid, have demonstrated that Vocarzine 1.5 mg hard capsules provide comparable pharmacokinetic parameters (Cmax and AUC) to the brand-name product in healthy subjects under fasting conditions.
