Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Voclosporin ophthalmic solution (VOS) is a proprietary nanomicellar formulation of voclosporin designed for topical ophthalmic use. This clear, aqueous, and preservative-free solution allows for high concentrations of voclosporin to be delivered locally to the ocular surface. The nanomicellar technology aims to improve the delivery of the active drug to target tissues, potentially offering benefits in efficacy, dosing frequency, and tolerability compared to existing dry eye treatments like Restasis®. Voclosporin is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant. Its mechanism involves decreasing immune system activity by blocking IL-2 expression and T-cell mediated immune responses, which helps reduce inflammation when applied ophthalmically.
