Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zinivog M is a fixed-dose combination of voglibose, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, and metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent. Developed by Zinnia Life Sciences, it is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly to control postprandial and fasting blood glucose levels. Voglibose acts locally in the small intestine to delay carbohydrate digestion and absorption, thereby reducing post-meal blood sugar spikes. Metformin works primarily by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
