Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VOGLIMON-GM2 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) pharmaceutical product marketed by Learmont Pharmaceuticals for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It consists of three oral hypoglycemic agents: voglibose, glimepiride, and metformin. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that reduces postprandial blood glucose by delaying carbohydrate digestion and absorption in the small intestine. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells by inhibiting ATP-sensitive potassium channels. Metformin is a biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. This triple combination is typically indicated for patients whose glycemic levels are not adequately controlled by dual therapy with metformin and a sulfonylurea.
