Overview

VOGLISUG-GM-2 is a triple-combination oral antidiabetic medication developed and marketed by Intra Life for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It contains three active pharmaceutical ingredients: voglibose (0.2 mg), glimepiride (2 mg), and metformin hydrochloride (1000 mg). Voglibose acts as an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor in the small intestine, delaying the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates to reduce postprandial hyperglycemia. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells by blocking ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily reduces hepatic glucose production through the activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. This combination therapy is intended for patients who do not achieve adequate glycemic control with monotherapy or dual therapy.
