Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VOLT01** is an investigational fixed-dose intravenous combination of **zoledronic acid** and **methylprednisolone** being developed for knee osteoarthritis. Zoledronic acid is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that inhibits osteoclast-mediated bone resorption through farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase inhibition, while methylprednisolone is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist intended to suppress inflammatory effects associated with treatment and osteoarthritis. The program originated at Renascense Pharmaceuticals, was acquired by Voltarra Pharmaceuticals, and is now associated with Levolta Pharmaceuticals. Clinical studies have evaluated the combination for symptomatic and potentially disease-modifying treatment of knee osteoarthritis, including Phase II and Phase III development.
