Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VOLT01 is a proprietary, novel, patented small molecule derivative of zoledronic acid being developed by Levolta Pharmaceuticals. As a bisphosphonate-based therapy, it is designed to regulate bone metabolism and is primarily being investigated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and osteoporosis. Unlike traditional bisphosphonates that focus solely on bone resorption, VOLT01 is being evaluated for its potential as a disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) by targeting subchondral bone remodeling and potentially exerting anti-inflammatory effects within the joint environment. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for knee osteoarthritis, where it is administered as a single-dose intravenous infusion.
