Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination product containing von Willebrand factor (VWF) and coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) that is used to treat bleeding disorders. VWF acts as a carrier and stabilizing protein for factor VIII, which is prone to rapid proteolysis and clearance from plasma. This complex helps clot the blood when an injury occurs by promoting platelet adhesion to damaged vascular sub-endothelial matrix and platelet aggregation. It is primarily used to treat von Willebrand disease (VWD) and hemophilia A in patients who do not produce enough of these factors naturally.
