Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug combination is a quadruple therapy regimen designed for the eradication of *Helicobacter pylori* infection. It consists of vonoprazan, a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that provides rapid and sustained gastric acid suppression; amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic; levofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic; and a bismuth compound, which provides direct antimicrobial effects and mucosal protection. This specific regimen is being evaluated in clinical trials led by Yanqing Li at Shandong University to compare its efficacy and safety against vonoprazan-based dual therapy. The inclusion of vonoprazan instead of a traditional proton pump inhibitor (PPI) aims to achieve more stable acid inhibition, potentially improving the stability and efficacy of the co-administered antibiotics.
