Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Voxilaprevir is a direct-acting antiviral (DAA) medication used as part of combination therapy to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is an inhibitor of the HCV NS3/4A serine protease, which is essential for viral replication. By inhibiting this protease, voxilaprevir prevents the cleavage of viral polyproteins into functional proteins required for assembly and replication of the virus. Voxilaprevir is not used alone but in combination with sofosbuvir and velpatasvir (marketed as Vosevi), particularly in adults who have previously received other HCV treatments.
