Overview

voxinhibai (also known as Woxitibai or CMAB806) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as an interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) inhibitor. Developed by Shanghai Biomabs Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Mabpharm), it is a biosimilar candidate for canakinumab (Ilaris). The drug is designed to neutralize IL-1β, a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the inflammatory cascade of gouty arthritis triggered by monosodium urate crystals. voxinhibai is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of gout, with a specific focus on patients with comorbid chronic kidney disease (CKD) and proteinuria, where traditional anti-inflammatory therapies may be contraindicated. It is typically administered via subcutaneous injection and has been studied in combination with urate-lowering therapies such as febuxostat.
